Deadman: Despite a kind of lame costume, Deadman has a lot of TV potential. Its ad rates are very reasonable, but all the high-visibility ad space is reserved for DC, Image, Dark Horse, Acclaim etc. Superheroes, it seems, are part of everyday Australian culture. They found quick success with the likes of Spawn, Youngblood, Savage Dragon, Dark Hawk, Wild C. Please read their requirements carefully. If you were a writer and wanted to be known, you went to the pulps, not to comics. Image and Dark Horse have been putting out some of my favorite original comics in recent memories with Cowboy Ninja Viking, Incognito and The Goon. This is a huge mistake and it is costing you money and readership. Growth is being shared between all these outlets, seemingly the success of one benefits all.

Not esoteric black-and-white low-print-run underground comics like those being self-published by Robert Crumb and other West Coast contemporaries in San Francisco and L. Silvestri withdrew Top Cow from Image in 1996 (although he retained his partnership in the company). And its model of creator-owned works certainly doesn't put it at the back of the pack when it comes to creativity. April 2015 was another enormous month with 545 new comics, fueled by DC’s Convergence and Marvel’s Secret Wars tie-ins.
