Many blues musicians based in Memphis moved to Chicago in the late 1930s or early 1940s and became part of the urban blues movement, which blended country music and electric blues. Maxixe is a mix of the african lundo with the tango from Argentina, with the cuban habanera and the polca. It is often characterized by its use of blues and speech intonations.
